All the photographs on this site are either the author’s own or have been licensed. Attributions should be given on the respective pages.

Software

The project makes use of a lot of wonderful freely available software. Most of these are standard and well-known to developers, but particularly for those who don’t know about such efforts, we wish to spell out some of these here. 

The development platform is currently an Apple Mac and uses a freely available package manager, Homebrew, to provide the current versions of many open source software components. These include basic Web applications: Apache httpd (web server), PHP (scripting), and mariaDB (database). 

This site has been created and managed using WordPress, a content management system, with a custom child theme of Catch Adaptive and various plugins, viz: Collapse-O-Matic, Contact Form 7 [retain?], Enable Media Replace, Insert Headers and Footers, Kadence Blocks, Pages with category and tag, Really Simple SSL, Shortlink Removal, Simple Page Ordering, teachPress, Timeline Block, Visual Portfolio, WP show more[?], WP Static Search (modified).

The static site is assembled using MakeStaticSite, a home-made BASH script, which itself invokes various GNU software, primarily wget, which retrieves the pages and convert all the links to work offline.
